For those who like to get messy

Head off to the heartlands for a colourful race through Yishun Bottled Tree Park. Red Dynasty Paintball (81 Lorong Chencharu; 6755 7537, www.weplaypaintball.com; $10 for 30 paint balls) is not ideal for a blind date and we recommend screening your opponent’s ‘idea of a good time’ beforehand. This can be a good way to decide if they’re up for getting down and dirty – as in covered in colourful dollops of paint.

Keep things nice and messy by moving on to Sunset Grill Bar & Pub (140B Piccadilly Rd; 6482 0244. Wed-Mon 4-9.30pm; $19.90 for a dozen wings, beer $6) and dip your hands into the spiciest American-style wings on the island. Set alongside the Seletar Airbase in the Republic of Singapore Flying Club, the chicken this spot serves up ranges in its level of spice from 1-35; most diners start to feel major heat at level three. Wander beyond the car park and you will come across the storage ground for private jets and small aircraft. Mind you, if you’ve chowed down on anything higher than level ten spicy wings, you probably won’t need one of these babies to get you off the ground. Rumour has it that the restaurant will be closing at the end of the year, so let your date know that it’s a must-see.
