Do you work around here?
I do. I have a salad shop nearby – it’s called The Green Bar.

Are you the owner?
Yes, I am one of the owners.

A working mum-to-be – how many months are you right now?
I am in my ninth month, expecting to deliver anytime soon.

Congrats! Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?
It’s a girl, and she’s my first one, I’m really excited!

It’s impressive you are still working at this stage.
Well, my doctor says that I have to keep active, so I’m trying to walk around as much as I can during the day.

How are you feeling about the pregnancy?
I’m excited but anxious at the same time, because I know that there’s going to be a lot of work and I’m going to be like a cow all day. I can already hear the sound of the breast pump…

Aiming for a natural delivery?
Yes, but with an epidural. That’s the key word.

Any tips for expecting mothers?
Just keep as active as you can, have as much rest as you can, be as relaxed as you possibly can, and eat well.

Like having your salads?
Yes! Come to my Green Bar for salads… I can take you there right now.

Thanks. Any other tips?
I go for prenatal yoga at Pure Yoga. I do it three times a week, and I also go to the gym.

How is Daddy coping?
He’s rubbing the tummy a lot. We just cleaned the baby’s room last week – there are Roman blinds, stripey wallpaper, an angelic, white-coloured cot and a vintage-looking set of drawers.

Are you planning for more babies?
Definitely. I won’t stop at one.

So you’re tackling Singapore’s declining birth rate, I see.
Yeah! You can help out, too.
