This descendant of the original Raffles Museum established in 1849 by Sir Stamford Raffles (the founder of Singapore and a renowned naturalist) contains the oldest and largest animal collection from the South-East Asian region, with more than 400,000 catalogued specimens. Key attractions include a 19thcentury turtle from Siglap and a 4.4m king cobra from the Central Catchment area. More than 20,000 plant specimens found within the region are also on display.
