Jamae Mosque

One of Singapore’s earliest mosques, the Jamae was founded in 1827 by Muslim Indian entrepreneurs from southern India (the Chulias – it’s also known as the Chulia Mosque). In contrast to so many 19th- century religious sites, it hasn’t been renovated, but the curious architecture – a medley of South Indian, neoclassical and Muslim influences – still shines through, and the interior is well maintained.
