published on Nov 19 2009 - 16:36

Learn more about the religious and cultural beliefs behind ancient Egyptian mummification techniques, burial rituals and the civilisation’s desire for immortality. In this exhibition, feast your eyes on ancient jewellery, vessels, literature, coffins and cartonnages. There are also five human mummies, seven animal mummies, and statues of gods and goddesses. The oldest artefact is an exquisite ivory figurine dating from 4000 BC, and the Sphinx of Amenhotep III statue, valued at about €1m (S$2,080,000).
