Expect Crookers, aka Bot and Phra, a production/ DJ duo from Italy, to bring down the house at Zouk’s ReadySet Glo party this month. Since getting together six years ago, Crookers have been taking on the world one remix at a time, laying down their signature crooked bass on tracks by artists such as Busy P, Chemical Brothers and even U2. Their remix of Kid Cudi’s loopy track ‘Day ’N’ Nite’ entered the UK singles chart at No 2, and has been receiving airplay by purveyors of booty music, fidget house and nu-rave worldwide, including Soulwax, Boys Noize, and self-proclaimed fidget originator, Switch.

These boys are also responsible for bringing the sounds of AC/DC to the club kids with their chart-topping remix of the song ‘Thunderstruck’. Citing Timbaland and J-Dilla as their inspirations, Bot and Phra work hip hop into their music regularly; Phra was even involved in the Italian hip-hop scene as an MC and DJ. Their production style also blends influences from Chicago house, booty and techno, all chopped-up sounds with the use of an MPC sampler.

Crookers’ recent EP, E.P.Istola, was released on Diplo’s Mad Decent label, and the duo have since released on Man Recordings, Potty Mouth Records and Southern Fried Records. Crookers have also played at major music festivals such as Glastonbury, Creamfields, Fuji Rock, and one of Europe’s biggest techno music festivals, I Love Techno, in 2008. This is a big-name act you won’t want to miss.
