This event has finished

If hard-hitting, syncopated electronic riffs don’t turn you on, then go Italodisco, space-disco, gay-disco and whatever-else-disco at The Rabbit Hole with the highly anticipated Brooklyn-based act Metro Area. A marriage of veteran producers Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani, who share an intense love of classic R&B, house, disco and techno, Metro Area will prod you in all the right places with its ability to synthesise retro sounds and arrange them creatively. Fellow friends and collaborators Daniel Wang (DJ/producer with Balihu Records) and classically trained electronic maestro Kelley Polar – both successful in their own right – round out this family of disco musos under the label Environ Records.

Metro Area

Incapable of producing anything other than boogielicious music, Metro Area’s speciality lies in its ability to redefine and reinvent dance music harmoniously, by combining hints of early Detroit techno, Chicago’s decadent house and New York’s warm, fuzzy and deep house. Metro Area’s tracks aren’t just classics sampled and put on loop, but carefully structured compositions that can, at any time, feature Polar’s uplifting string arrangements over killer bass lines and smooth vocals. Save your sweat and tears for this night – you’ll be partaking in a funkathon that you’ll never want to end.

Metro Area plays at The Rabbit Hole, The White Rabbit on 1 Aug.
