A revolving-door roster of electro-house guest DJs head up this chic Dempsey lawn party

Don’t assume you’re late for this important date; it’s 10.41pm, but DJ Tyler Made’s just dusting the decks. Little whirling seems to be happening at this hole – suppose four small tables aren’t audience enough, but where’s the dance tuft at this garden party? Surely the disco ball promises one, or do electro-nerds simply chair-rave in their white faux-wicker seats and solid bar stools? Smooth lounge beats make up the soundtrack to ponder such stuff to, with a refreshing White Rabbit Blackforest Mojito (freshly muddled berries, blackberry Chambord, fresh mint and lemon juice, $17++) in hand.

DJ Tyler Made finally gets the lawn party going at close to 11 with a simple bass pulse, accompanied by minidrum player Serena – it’s a gradual slope they’re climbing to rougheredged beats. The indoor crowd of after-work sippers is now lured out, but the soirée stays sparse for the rest of the night. Even with smooth-flowing electro-pop, this remains a pre-tumble Wonderland, bedecked with souvenirs of an oversized chair and table. Early, it seems, is as good a time as any to bounce here.
