Forbidden City

While the super-sized stone warriors lining the entrance of Forbidden City appear imposing, don’t be fooled. Inside, the downstairs Bar Cocoon beckons with numerous daybeds made even more enticing with colourful pieces of cloth carelessly draped about. On Wednesdays, the bar hosts Babes and Bubbles Ladies Night with onefor-one deals on Veuve Clicquot champagne (by the glass), selected cocktails, house wines and house beers. The kitschy Ice Palace room fits ten and is worth at least one visit to have the experience of knocking back 42 Below Vodka shots ($15 each) in minus-5 degree Celsius surroundings. It’s gimmicky but a fun way to get sloshed.
