The cocktail is king at this speciality bar that says no to bubbly, wine and beer, and a big yes to mixed drinks – especially those made with freshly squeezed fruit juices and premium alcohol. But before you sigh and say, ‘Not another one of those bars,’ consider this: it’s new, fresh and still relatively hipster-free. Housed in what used to be a caretaker’s lodge, this 30-seater boasts works by local artists hanging on the walls and a baby grand piano (complete with singer) parked in a corner. It won’t be long before this upmarket neighbourhood bar becomes the latest spot to see and be seen – so go now.

Drinks $16-$20.

I was in Singapore for a three month holiday from Montreal, when I went to Klee. The place is an absolute delight.

The drinks are better than most of (if not all) the five star hotels around the city.

The ambiance is spectacular. The mixologist, Aubrey, was down to earth, she knew her stuff and made it a point to go to each patron to help them chose their drinks and once she made it, she came back to explain how/why it was made a certain way.

I don't see why you need to go to a place that specializes in cocktails to order a beer/gin and tonic. Go to a regular bar!!!

The uppity crowd was a put off and the staff aren't exactly out to please. But who cares, I am there for the drinks. My husband and I were there about 3-4 times between Jan to Sep this year. I like Vivan, the bartender b'cos he makes the effort to understand what we like and customises the drink for us. He takes feedback well and we are very happy with what he has done for us. I can't say the same for the other bartender though. The manager certainly knows his stuff and obliges each time we ask him questions about the liquor or drink-mixing. I think it is a great place for people who appreciate a good drink and enjoys a good conversation on drinks.

Despite the awesome setting (mostly because of the proximity to colbar and the fact that my dad was stationed in the old army camp nearby), Klee manages to really rub me off the wrong way. I've gone there 3 times now to make sure it wasn't coz of an off-day on my part. I really wanted to like the place! To be fair, there was one decent guy behind the bar (and they serve Kronenbourg Blanc, at least they did when I was last there) but the manager and the other bar-keeps need to can their "I'm too cool for this" attitude. Not that it's surprising, considering the attitude of the people running it, the place festers with the smug, uppity sorts - the sort with execrably phony accents and glad-wrap girlfriends. Fail!

Crap service. Nice ambience, but small.

It's a cavernous space with seats 'round a long bar and a few tables; a place you'd expect a charming host to seat you, yet unfortunately, on a Friday night, there was none. It's also a space where those standing, waiting to be seated, are quite conspicuous and very much the centre of the entire single room. The bartender and waitress looked up at us, only to whisper to one another then continue to ignore us, as we patiently remained standing until the seated patrons became also confused as to why we were left unattended. Finally, we left embarrassed and bewildered. Better to go elsewhere folks than be left out in the cold. These guys can't even get the 101 stuff right.

I recently came across Klee in a magazine, thought searching for feedbacks and comments before dropping by and woah..the comments seems to be aligned. Looks like I'll give this place a miss. Thanks for all the comments!

i liked klee for its ambience on my first visit, but after the second time, i doubt i will return again. as with the above reviewers, i agree that klee needs to take itself less seriously. i also think they need to create more cocktail concoctions if they want to be called a cocktail bar. I was recommended the same drinks on both times.

totally. staff treat you like you should be grateful to allowed into klee. i went and we were told "you can come but you can only sit outside." when we sat outside and i tried to order a vodka tonic: "you can only have beer and wine outside" when we ventured into the bar to chat with friends we were told: "youre not allowed to stand inside. only sit". it was empty by the way. and there are abt 10 chairs inside. nice place but shame abt their policy of telling customers what they can and cant do in a bar. will never bother to visit this place again. ill go to colbar instead.

Really, the drinks are overrated sickly sweet confections. What ever happened to a well made gin and tonic? The attitude of the manager and bartenders... oops, sorry, mixologists...is also a little too snotty for my taste. Pretty place, but takes itself way too seriously.

... and no, I'm not the owner. I'm a customer who's been here 5 times in the past year, and each time is a treat. The drinks are wonderfully creative and delicious, and the blowfish is a perfect compliment. Frequently, the corner seats are reserved when I come in, but I don't mind. This is a superb place that deserves its growing reputation of excellence.

This "review" was obviously written by the owner or manager. We got a funny vibe the moment we walked into the place this evening. We were asked whether we had reservations. Since when do bars require reservations?! Particularly in an ulu place like this serving spiked fruit juice. If there was a private function on, why not just say "sorry, private function, please come back another night".
