If you like live music performances (10pm until late), you can join the hordes of people packing this place. Practically bursting at the seams on weekends, you’ll be hard-pressed to even find a decent spot to stand in. But if you can manage the discomfort of feeling like a sardine in a can, start filling yourself up with some of the brews (five bottles of Erdinger, Corona Extra or Tiger go for $50, all night long) and you’ll be partaking in the rowdiness in no time. While the performers differ nightly, it’s songbird Michaela who always rouses the folk with her throaty vocals and mature deliveries of both crowd favourites and current chart-toppers. On quieter nights, when you can actually find a stool to rest your bum, kick back and bob along to the jazzy house tunes, at the same time appreciating the lovely and understated Peranakan-style decor.
