Tucked away from the crowd in a corner of Dempsey Hill (aka the pretentious-sounding ‘Tanglin Village’) is Angel’s Share – which is winemakers’ lingo for wine lost through evaporation during the ageing process. This wine bar, in a classy, somewhat rustic, location, features freestanding flaming torches, plush outdoor seating right on the grass and a DJ spinning a good mix of jazz and house tunes. Sit back, chill and pretend you’re in wine county with more than 700 labels (mainly from Australia, California, France and Italy) to choose from. A glass of moderately priced housepour sauvignon blanc goes for $13 and a bottle of Henriot champers is yours for $120. It’s a shame the cocktails appeared truly lacklustre (read: not particularly alcoholic); perhaps the bartender was trying to save the owners a few bucks, or maybe it’s just another tie-in to the bar’s responsible drinking policy and drive-home service.

We went a group of 12. Heard about the 40 fee flow appaently now there isnt a 9 to 12 restriction, its 3 hours from the first order / pax In the 3 hours we drank each about 12 glasses couldnt take anymore ... but worth it - and in the end we still given some vochers for next visits - going to save them for the launch of their new outdoor bar in May -fill up the alcohol guys and let the live music flows

I'm not sure if this place has has a change of management recently? I had visited Angels Share previously and wasn't massively impressed, the service was appalling and the drinks were pretty bad.. We returned last week on the request of friends and what a difference!! We were met at the door by a lovely English lady who looked after our every need - even chasing the waiters when they took their time bringing our bill.(The service staff still seems to be a problem but the new management certainly seem to be on top of things.. I even saw the DJ instructing one of the waiters to serve a waiting guest..Multi-tasking or what!) The food and drinks were both lovely. We avoided the cocktail offer after reading other comments on here, plus they didn't look too appealing with stupid names like ninja turtle etc.. so just stuck to the wine which was fabulous. The DJ was playing fantastic music on the night..it really set the mood beautifully and we stayed for a good few hours and relaxed. Overall, So much better than our last visit. All thats missing is a proper cocktail menu/bar manager and this would be our favorite bar!! Definitely come back!

absolutely abysmal service. don't be tempted by the $40 drink-all-u-can promotion between 11-1am. sounds like a good deal but considering you only get 1 drink per hour (they lost our orders 4 times) and they ran out of all basic ingredients like strawberry, lychee, mint, etc, means you are paying $40 for 2 G&T's!! and the manager wasn't particularly apologetic when we complained either. AVOID.

After reading the reviews here i went to check this place out since i'm a big wine fan myself. The whole idea of having your wine paired with your food is very trendy these past few years. To my consternation, the wooden wine chiller is a joke as every wine guy would know that wood is porous and would cause condensation within the wine chiller. And to my horror you have wine bottles being stored lying down, this obviously would affect the wine content as it age on its side as compared to having it rest tilted. I wouldn't get into the fundamental reasons why its bad as supposedly the owner is a wine connoisseur himself. After settling down, it took ages for my wine to reach the table and they serve it way too chill making me wait further as wine taste bests between 14-16 degrees celcius as oppose to 6 degrees celcius. The server had the audacity to tell me that this is how wine should be serve. Now this intrigues me further, being a wine place obviously the strictest of standards has to be met to optimise the aging of the wine, i see none of these being met. Even La Forketta, an italian restaurant across the road takes pride in storing their wine and they are well known for their pastas not wine. For consolation they serve very good calamari so the next time if you're thinking of eating calamari and would like to be seen in a wine drinking place try AngelShare. Skip the wine and try the calamari.
