After taking a trip down memory lane at the Mint Museum of Toys, head up to the rooftop for martinis and beer – a quick reminder of why it’s great to be an adult. While the view is largely obscured by the Swissôtel The Stamford hotel, it’s a pretty sight at night when the lights twinkle up and down the tower. This quiet hidey-hole of a bar is adorned with vintage enamel advertising signs, fans from the 1910s and 1930s, and a 1920s counter from a Remittance House along Middle Road turned into a bar. You’ll get one-for-one deals on lychee martinis ($14) and wines ($12), three-for-two deals of gin and tonic ($8), and tequila shots ($8) before 8pm. Dissolve your inhibitions with the Mr Punch cocktail ($14) – a sweet aquamarine mix with a Long Island Tea wallop. But we’re still wondering: where’s Judy, Mr Punch?

Must start by saying the toy museum is pretty cool, and it was an ingenious thought to put a funky bar on top. Unfortunately Mr Punch is not quite there... yet. It’s got a reasonable vibe and the old school tunes help to add to the atmosphere. They serve cold beer (great, but not a difficult feat), however don’t touch the cocktails with a ten foot pole. Cheap and cheerful liquors are used in their drinks and you can tell! Kitchen shuts at 9pm, which is too early if you serve alcohol. I still hold hope for this place as its got great potential. Word is they are renovating in January, extending the rooftop smoking area (and that’s all it is!) to a rooftop bar. Will give Mr Punch a second shot in the ring in 2010.

Popped in here Saturday night around 10pm, this place is very cool - and the best thing are the $7 Jim Beam and cokes. The view is better than TOS mention, it is pretty spectacular. The place was pretty full when we arrived, and gradually got packed around 12. The vibe is 50/50 with locals to expats, so that is nice. Other drinks specials are 2for1 wines and beers. What's not to love?
