While taxi uncles are still rather clueless when you mention its multi-syllabic name, One Rochester does not stop drawing stressed-out individuals eager to attain a sense of peace in the bar’s very green, very snug surroundings. Although it is situated close to the busy North Buona Vista Road, the gastro bar remains surprisingly impervious to the sounds of traffic. With mosquito-repelling citronella and an impressive 200-something wine list, One Rochester’s ‘best kept secret’ status is only moments away from being revealed.

Nice place, price correct for portion served. Some of the staff (Andy) is great and fun. Good moment there for our group.

This is probably the only bar that I have ever come across that organises so many events and weddings! 3 times I had tried to book the place for dinner and drinks and the place was either fully booked or closed for weddings.

They have now gone full on on food and are offering brilliant desserts that are absolutely divine. I couldn't believe it, but the pastry chef looks like she is only 16. What I hate is that they only have limited aircon seats and it is always so difficult to get a reservation.

I never give accolades to restaurant service staffs for giving great service. I believe that in that industry, trying giving great service should always be second nature. You do not thank a taxi driver for getting you to your home in the shortest route possible do you? However, I must espcially single out Ivan from One Rochester for making a miserable day for me really pleasant when I was there just a couple of days back. Not only was he pleasant to talk to, he displays a genuine interest in serving Lizzie and me throughout the whole night. We felt great and had the most wonderful time due to him and his team. Great work!

I frequented One Rochester when it was really rocking, that was about a year ago. It was ostensibly a wine bar with lots of beer (I like!). Very pleasant, but really not my type of place (if not for the ladies there). I went there again last week, invited by a friend and I had thought that this guy was probably behind in his "hip and happening" landscape, however I was polite and did not bring it up. Anyway, I was curious about what this place is like now. I was surprised by the fact that One Rochester now serve complete dinners. Yup, proper dining height seating, full menus, desserts, etc. In particular, their lambshank and beef is done very well. We really enjoyed ourselves. The drinks obviously helped. Considering that it started off as a bar, I think they have done extremely well.

I was there and was really surprise that they serve full fledge dinners now. It looked really good and I wanted to go back the next day, but they were booked for the rest of the week. Serving the net, I found this commentary and I believe what AS said about the chef is true.

I have heard quite a fair bit about this place, its colonial structure and its impressive garden area. Thought it could just be over hyped as most places in Singapore are. I have to admit that this place impressed me considerably with its well thought through concept. Pity that it was a little bit crowded though. Service is great, but the food took a while getting to us. Apparently the chef worked under Gordon Ramsay and Alain Ducasse before, hard to believe, but the food was indeed quite good. A pity it was expensive though. Somehow, I think the classification here is wrong, this place is more of a dinner place rather than a bar. They call themselves Gastro-bar, but they have full dining facilities. I think they are confused, but that in a good way. Will be back there again.
