This American sci-fi film is produced by Kazakh director Timur Bekmambetov, who directed Night Watch, Day Watch and Wanted, which explains why it’s set in Russia, although it’s written and directed by Americans. Also strictly from the Anglophone world is a group of young people who are fighting to survive an alien invasion, and include characters played by Emile Hirsch, Max Minghella and Olivia Thirlby, although there is a significant Russian presence in the cast too. The USP of this particular movie alien invasion is that the aliens are invisible and take the form of unseen electrical forces, so audiences will no doubt be eyeing their electrical sockets suspiciously after viewing.
