Notably absent from Hollywood’s rom-com scene for almost a whole year now, hapless stuttering fop Hugh Grant returns to the genre under the familiar direction of Miss Congeniality and Music and Lyrics creator Marc Lawrence. Here he plays urbane Paul Morgan, husband to classy, confused city gal Meryl (Parker) (sounding familiar?). After witnessing a murder, much comically facile soul-searching ensues as the couple moves to the countryside under a government-sponsored witness protection programme.
