This black-and-white film backed by Sir Run Run Shaw (who also co-produced Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner) tells the story of a grotesquely disfigured hunchback who falls in love with a village beauty. After painting her a picture made with love, the villagers decide to attack him. He fights back and a villager dies. The gods get angry, he makes a pact with the devil and is transformed into the Oily Man. Then he returns, bent on revenge!
