Look out 1-percenters, you’re about to get served. The popping-and-locking heroes of this fourth Step Up movie speak truth to power the only way they know how: by busting hot dance moves in the face of stuffy old white guys. A troupe of guerrilla performers led by hunky Ryan Guzman stage synchronised routines on Miami’s escalators and restaurant tables; they gain righteous discontent from a classically trained ringer (Kathyrn McCormick), rallying the troops to take on her condo-building real-estate-mogul father (Peter Gallagher). The plot is pure boilerplate, yet the draw of this franchise has always been its fancy footwork, and the movie’s stuttering, herky-jerky spectacles of impassioned movement are pretty extraordinary.
