Some of the top suona (Chinese reed instrument) players – Guo Ya Zhi, Zhou Dong Chao and Jin Shi Yi (soloist) – in the world play their woodwind in a dazzling display of music composed for the instrument – from the expressiveness of folk songs from Henan and Taiwan to full-scale suona concerto, ‘The Call for the Phoenix’.
