A drinking festival wouldn’t be complete without a formidable Irish presence; it is only fitting that alternative rockers Ash kick off the first day of celebrations at the Singapore Beer Festival. Formed just outside Belfast in 1992, Ash scored massive hits with their breakthrough album 1977 (1996) when they were still in high school. These strapping not-so-young lads are still going strong – despite the addition and loss of fourth member Charlotte Hatherley over the years – and are back to the original lineup of Tim Wheeler, Rick McManus and Mark Hamilton. Keep your ears peeled for new song ‘Ichiban’.
