YouTube's hottest Korean-Australian twins are finally in Singapore
Every so often, a star, of Bieber-sized kilowattage emerges from YouTube’s million-deep pool of self-plugging singer-songwriters, and Korean- Australian twin songstrels Jayesslee look to be the next chosen ones. Since their first upload in 2008, a cover of Texan Christian rock band Leeland’s single ‘Yes You Have’, Janice and Sonia Lee’s videos (35 and counting) have garnered close to 30 million views and countless comments from fans begging them to visit their city – to date they’ve toured from their hometown Sydney to countries including China, and even sung at a New Jersey wedding (ker-ching!).
Not surprising, then, that the cute-as-crippled-kittens sisters have caused a ruckus here. Even after the folks at TAB tacked on an extra show, tickets to both still sold out in less than a day.
Really, it’s not hard to see why they’ve stolen hearts. Their wholesome image, über-girly, genteel and fluffy musings on love, freedom and hope could melt all but the frostiest hearts. And like other famous twins of pop-culture yore – Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, Sweet Valley High’s Jessica and Elizabeth – they milk the matching hair and smiles. If you’re one of the lucky ticket-holders, we’ve no doubt their roster of radio-friendly covers from Bruno Mars to Josh Groban and, perhaps, original songs for a possible album, will hold you captive, wondering – are these the next Biebers?
