The food was better. BUT EXPERIENCES THERE is ALWAYS spoilt by rude staff. There are some very polite and nice ones, but there's this indian/malay girl who kept rolling her eyes at everything the customer request, not just at our table, but at other tables too, that totally spoilt our mood. Menus take forever to come, request greeted by an eye roll and an indifferent shrug, food thrown on the table without an apology, that one staff, totally spoil the good reviews timbre could have gotten. Might need to go through stricter staffing process honestly.

I had a similar experience, with them forgetting part of my order and that part of my order did not come for an entire hour even though we reminded them time and again. They also failed to get the dinnerware while being sloppy with the service. They are getting from bad to worse and should be avoided. 'nuff said.

Staff were completely inattentive, and waiting for my credit card to come back took a whole TWENTY minutes. And to think that the bill included close to $40 in service charge - they deserved zero. Will not recommend this place.

My wife + I went to the 'Prince of Wales' (Dunlop St, Little India) last Thursday night, and were blown away. There's this guy, Tony Alderman, that was playing, his own songs, it was lovely, lovely. We come to Timbre every month or so, any chance he's on your books? If he's not, maybe check him out, he's on: myspace.com/tonyalderman. We had a lovely evening, his songs are beautiful.

Lousy service even before I get there. Website only allows adobe flash player. How many people get to install adobe on work terminals? And calling the office gets me nowhere. All the person answering the call can tell me is "too bad"

I have not been to timbre for awhile because my favourite band 52A does not play there anymore. However, we decide to go there for the pizza as the pizza there is quite nice. We went there on Sun night. We were quickly ushered to our table when we showed up. For the next ten minutes, no one shows us the menu. A couple sitting next to us was also waiting for their orders to be taken. It was a sunday and it's not very busy. I could see staffs idling and doing their own things rather than attend to customers. Since they do not need our business, we left. This is not the first time I have encountered lousy service there.

Went here for the first time on sat night - such a great venue - doesn't feel at all like Singapore. Goodfellas are a great band if you like indie.

AG.. i think you are biased. Either that or you havent traveled enough to actually comment that it is the "worst place you've been to in any country". Have you ever heard the mariachis doin their stuff in Madrid? The service at Timbre (Substation) has always been good. The servers there are polite and humble. And I agree with M.. maybe you went on a wrong day. Try goin on a Friday and Saturday and watch the Goodfellas. FYI, this band plays every Thurs in China1 (since you sited China1 as having decent music)..

Not sure what day you went, but Saturday is my favourite day to visit Timbre @ Substation, just to watch the Goodfellas perform. Live music has never been this good! Food is great - try the mini burgers, chicken wings and pizzas, though service can do with some improvement.

Bad food Bad service Bad band to top it off, in an outdoor venue in singapore, they have a 1 glass of water policy. Worst place I've been to in any country. If you want decent live music go to Insomnia @ chjimes, China 1, Prince of Wales, Bar None.
