For a long time, Les Amis has been a by word for fine French dining. The wine cellar and service remain impressive, though the worn carpeting, glassware, cutlery and faded silver-trimmed show plates could do with a makeover. The menu is still top-notch, though it’s a little more modern (with a splash of Asian) these days. The foie gras is always good, as is the suckling pig with beer sauce. If you happen to be in town during truffle season, splash out here.
