Mimolette
published on Jul 07 2009 - 11:24

A huge new Friday-night hit among Singapore’s three Ms (models, media types and the moneyed), restaurant-cum-bar Mimolette is tucked within the Turf Club off Bukit Timah (not far from Sixth Avenue). The colonial-house venue and its tropical-greenery surrounds make for an exotic and exclusive setting – though one can’t help feeling for the stabled horses nearby; the late-night outdoor disco’s pounding R&B numbers must interfere with their sleep. Visit the restaurant for brunch, lunch or dinner, and expect New American-meets-French fare. Executive chef Kelvin Lee has an impressive CV with stints at 3-star Michelin restaurants in France and top regional establishments, though initial reports from disgruntled diners to TOS staffers have pointed to cuisine being ‘overpriced and ordinary’.

Mimolette was featured in Biting Back - January 2008.

Initial hype lost, surprisingly empty friday nights, hideous music. Door bitches aiding bad business by refusing patrons without a 'name to mention'. Their attitude standoffish for no reasons except the abuse of power 'endowed to their very premature experience and age'. Bottomline: WASTE NO EFFORT HERE!

The "owner" of the restaurant is horrible. Additionally, the food was not fantastic at all and service was VERY slow. Had to wait for an hour and a half before the cold food came! Don't go there!

Lovely ambience. I have been there several times for brunch and dinners. But they started a Sunday BBQ dinner which was truly awful. Meats were dry and tasteless. Salad bar was like hospital canteen with jello served in plastic containers. Very embarassing to have brought my 12 friends there. very disgruntled customer.
