Purists tend to turn up their noses at this joint, claiming it’s too touristy. Ignore them. The vibe is lively, the service brisk and the food is well cooked. You can’t ask for more. Granted, the fish head curry is probably better at Muthu’s down the road, but that’s almost splitting hairs; especially when the rust-red mutton masala is delicious, while the creamy richness of the prawn and spinach curry, or the chicken in velvety yoghurt sauce are well-paired with a heap of biryani.

This is the first time I've seen a restaurant review feature race! So you didn't like the fact that the waiters served the "ang moh's" and "non-indians" instead of you? Why are you even raising this point? Why not just say the service was crappy? Your "review" suggests that the Banana Leaf is a racist establishment that only Westerners and "non-indian Singaporeans" ought to visit. Epic Fail Temaskian! This restaurant is a good place to eat, no matter what race or religion you are. I have been there a few times with my work friends, both in large groups and small. The food is good, the service ok and the price makes it all very palatable.

We went down today for lunch at this restaurant and ended up not having lunch(my dad did, anyway). The waiters were rude and didn't know the dishes. They were more interested in serving the 'ang moh's and the non-Indians.The cashier lady was also rude and gave us a dirty look and didn't even thank us.Overall,I'd give this place a 1 for service and 0 for food. The curry was way too sour and the rice was overcooked and the fish was not tasty.BAD BAD BAD!!!
