We went to Il Lido for dinner this past long weekend and were very disappointed by the wait staff. The attitude of our server was indifferent, bordering on scornful! The service lapses were many and put a damper on our $250 evening. Each course was served with a brusque 'enjoy'- not even a short description of what we were eating. My husband and I love our bread and were looking forward to the usual array of choices that you would expect from a breadbasket at a fine dining Italian restaurant- instead we were subjected to garlic crackers, and to our bewilderment the waiter brought a basket of the garlic crackers to accompany our dessert of tiramisu... Is this how they do it in Italy? I think not! We were not offered coffee or tea to end our meal, our wine was served after the appetiser and only after we asked for it, we were not offered a second round of drinks, our table was not cleared of crumbs before the dessert was served... The list goes on.. The service at Il Lido left a bitter taste in the mouth that even the delicious tiramisu could not eradicate.

Our experience with Il Lido was simply one an exciting one. We were having X'mas dinner with our daughter who happened to be down with food poisoning. Not once, not twice, but three times she vomitted on the table, and on the velvet couch!!! And each time, the waiter/waitress attended to us patiently and even arranged for warm water for her w/o us asking for it. Our assigned waiter kept coming to us asking how was our daughter doing. We were so touched. We couldn't have been a worse off customers.

I agree with the above comment. We secured a table for ten people for Christmas lunch..... The first thing that struck me is the condition of the decor - scratched and dirty black woodwork on the left hand side as you walk in sets a poor scene. The chairs were also filthy and all had multiple stain marks - I'm sure they would have looked the part in the first month of opening however they now need replacing. Service was appalling - with a menu this costly, I would expect a much higher standard of service from professional staff, not what looked like a bunch of kids dragged in for the day - most of whom had no idea how to serve drinks or food, or how to clear a table. There were a couple of nice touches like a group of five kids singing xmas songs with some acoustic guitar which was a welcome suprise although I still felt the place lacked any real ambience. Summary - the owners would do well to pay a visit to Bonta where the service is commensurate with the cost. Clean the place, and try to keep it clean! Get some well trained staff. The view is in no way 'great' as so many have said it is. If I wanted to look at tankers at Jurong island, I could do so from the cable cars,,,,,,,a little piece of golf course for scenery is not worth paying this much money for. Food is pretty average as well, Most disappointing.

The service staff were nice but very badly trained. They were attentive but so clinical, they would pull the chair towards you even before you were ready to sit and we had a few almost ready to fall moments. Service standards in European themed restaurants are on the decline and Il Lido is no exception, Food wasn't great either - not impressed.
