Sun’s high ceilings, stonework, steel finishes and woodsy trims are a slick background for the unfussy, bang-for-your-buck Japanese menu. The restaurant is making a name for its unusual seasonal offerings, such as vegetables from Kyoto and seafood from Hokkaido, though these are usually available only at dinner. For lunch, set-menu favourites include the fried chicken nuggets and broiled salmon set, and the tempura, tofu and salad set. We're also partial to the maguro avocado maki, here presented in a translucent sheet of rice paper, and the delicious juice made from Kyoho grapes

yes! i have seen this happen at many japanese restaurants here. lunch set menu is VERY reasonable, 15-25 bucks. but dinner is a WHOLE other story. sushi yoshida is yummy but astronomical at dinner time. the japanese place in the amara hotel - my sister got stuck with a $700 bill for 4 people once! and keyaki in pan pacific - we once got an $800 bill thanks to some super expensive melon that was served for dessert.

it all depends on what you are ordering..the lunch and dinner menu is quite different. for a start..most items are a la carte during dinner as opposed to set lunches. try the seasonal sashimi next time.. pretty good selection

food is alright but is not worth venturing for dinner. lunch set menu is more worth while for such standard of food.
