It helps to know that this somewhat nondescript hawker stall is no longer at Newton Circus, but such is the cache of the name that it’s travelled all the way to its new digs in Serangoon Gardens. Diehard fans swear by the intense smokiness of the inky char kway teow, the fat strands silky with black sauce and studded with the sharp undertow of cockles.
