One of Asia's 50 Best Bars, Nutmeg and Clove charts Singapore's history through cocktails that are undeniably local. Its latest menu comes just in time of Singapore's Bicentennial, with drinks inspired by the natural history drawings of William Farquhar – the city's first British resident and commandant. He's painted over 477 illustrations of flora, fruits and fauna unique to this part of the world. The bar now sports some of these indigenous herbs, spices, fruits or flowers to give classic cocktails a local twist.
For example, the tropical favourite pina colada is transformed into scotch & chips ($22). Sweet potato is cooked with milk and coconut before the mixture is clarified and blended with Glenfiddich 12 to create and sweet and earthy cocktail you can't find anywhere else. This Is Crab ($22) is another cheeky cocktail that references our love for all things crab. The low ABV cocktail combines crab and tomato consomme with dry vermouth and is luxuriously topped off with oyster leaf and caviar.
