Email does work and we have got our man today. Ironically, we caught him roasting today but this time, Cuppa was our destination.
Suhamie, it was nice meeting you and thank you for sparing some time today although we could see how busy you were. The scent of the coffee suck on our clothes til even at home.
BTW, Ms Rainbow- Our Chinese/Malay dude is not Ian as you mentioned. We got our man. IAN could be the lanky guy that was serving us the Cappu today. The people here are all good. Like they claim to be, best in Chinatown.

The malay/chinese dude's name is Ian.. and He's filipino! One of the best baristas in Singapore, I reckon! Very good service by him too. Plus, he's friendly and amiable disposition just makes the coffee he makes taste so much more exquisite! A must-try people! :)

We chanced upon this place quite accidentally, we thought this was SHOTS!! (which was further up.) We spoke to a Malay/Chinese male who was working on this big coffee gadget near the entrance (he later explained that he was roasting) and asked for directions.
What that took us back was that he conveniently tried to explain the directions to SHOTS and even told us to try his coffee if we have the chance too, after SHOTS. We were wary, they were offering Cappu at $2 but we simply got hook on the first cup. The same guy insisted in doing it for us and when it came and after tasting, we in unison agreed that this is not worth $2, we will pay $10 for it.
What is there not to love right? Good coffee, fresh and likeable service. Saying our goodbye, we pass his shop window and saw the same guy's photo in a pic. Apparently he was some winner in some coffee competition! It struck to us that he could even be the owner. What a humble service, we will certainly be back.
Oh, btw, we didn't even decided to look for SHOTS. We have found something defimitely better.

Upon reading about them here and being rated one of the top 10 cafe to have a cup of joe, i was surprised to find out that they are just a 5-min walk from my office at Neil Road. I guess Jims must have got his served by a champion Barista, by the way he commented!! Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad. It is really above average and i can see that they take passion in what they do by looking at the way the male barista prepared my cappuccino. Certainly a great honest cup but not to die for as i believe there are a few more cafes here in Singapore that can match them. I still rate them as one of the best few that i have ever tasted in Singapore though...........
