The Tastemaker Store

Tastemaker is the brainchild of the grandson of former store occupant Shing Lee Bookstore near Beo Crescent, where simple does it. Besides run-of-the-mill lattes ($5) and no-frills local delights like ‘chut bee png’ (or glutinous rice) and yam cake (both $3.80), the candid store also puts a spin on the typical kaya toast breakfast with a thick and tart lemon curd replacing kaya and clotted cream replacing butter, served atop two fluffy English muffins together with two soft-boiled eggs and an Americano ($5.80).
