This sprawling local eatery – spanning three shophouses and a canalside patio area – is fast becoming a one-stop-shop for connoisseurs of flavourful crab and everything else the sea has to offer. Delivered fast and fresh, Big Eater serves up crab cooked 14 ways, including house specialities with salted egg, black pepper and stewed with beehoon. This is complemented by eight styles of succulent king prawns, lobster and more than 20 other chef’s musttries. Ice-cold jugs of beer are available and the staff is more than willing to help you net the best selections. Of course if you reach your quota, you can always da bao (takeaway) and tackle it again when the appetite allows. Shelling out close to 200 crabs daily on weekends, you’d be wise to book your big catch ahead of time.
