The period bungalow could do with a little renovation – the floorboards tremble as the waitresses pass and the lighting is dreadful – but Hong Kongtrained owner and chef Ang Song Kang’s nostalgic Cantonese fare is a treat. Any meal should include the silky tofu served in a sauce of dried scallops and shiitake mushrooms; an addictively crisp brinjal crowned with pork floss; and round discs of lotus root fried with black pepper. Portions come in the usual three options, but the smallest is enough to feed three to four comfortably. We hear the PM’s wife has been spotted here.
