Like Cinderella, Wan Hao suffers a little from unwarranted neglect. Its hideaway location doesn’t help, but a recent dim sum lunch proved it was worth the effort to find it. Despite the lack of fatty layer, the burgundy-hued roast pork was still perfectly moist, while standards like the buttery char siew soh and translucent har gao were masterly. Standouts were the scallop sweet soup pooling over snowy rice and pepper-flecked garoupa, and a sesame seed-coated zhin doi stuffed with longan, melted chocolate and whisky that was as unexpected as it was addictive.
