To sin or not to sin? Eileen Tay and her devilishly delicious, sugar-filled creations, crafted in an out-of-sight pâtisserie off Holland Road, provide the answer. Essentially a café attached to her culinary workshop, you can watch the trained artisan at work, while downing a mug of hot Illy coffee and sampling the freshly made goodies. You’ll be besotted by the delicately moist cupcakes ($3.50), like L’amour Rose, Rocky Mountain and the name-says-it-all Chocolate Overload. For seconds, try the almond croissants, morsel-sized cream puffs or zesty cheese scones. Transgressions don’t end there; the French macarons ($2 each) in avant-garde flavours like lemon raspberry, passion jivara and oozing molten salty caramel will require a confessional or two.
