Matthew Mok's Asian-inspired mod European finds a new place on Alexandra Road
Advertising

Time Out says

From his beginnings as a travelling chef (literally lugging pots and pans around to customers’ kitchens) to semi-permanent digs nestled within Pandan Valley condominium, education counselor-turned-chef Matthew Mok finally has his own rabbit hole to call home, bringing his personable cooking style and private dining experience to the ground floor of shoebox apartments Alexis Singapore in Queenstown. It’s less of a squeeze here – the rustic timber floor, stonewall-decorated dining area seats 30, compared to just 13 at Pandan Valley – for fans to enjoy what he calls ‘Asian-inspired modern European cuisine’. An open kitchen is the perfect place to watch Mok whip up his five, seven or ten-course seasonal dinners ($68-$128) and two to four course lunches ($32-$45). If you’re still undecided, the ‘pick and match’ menu has à la carte options like the herb braised duck with peanut croquette and Chinese mustard ($16), roasted cod, lemon drops and squid ink cracker ($38) and delectable desserts such as the lady finger mascarpone with orange sabayon and rum sultanas ($12).

Reservations required three days in advance.
