Serenity Spanish Bar & Restaurant
Mums will love both the harbour view and authentic paella at this Spanish restaurant. Crisp and slightly burnt at the base and using Boomba rice, which is said to absorb flavours three times more than normal types of rice, there are eight varieties: squid ink, seafood, lobster, scampi, vegetarian, cod fish, pork, and cray fish. #01-98/99 VivoCity, 1 HarbourFront Walk (6736 8185). Mums have a choice of ordering this beautiful pan-fried line-caught sea bass fillet (with yuzu orange reduction, siphon of truffle mashed potato and lait de soja) ala carte or as part of the four-course set dinner.

Novus Café, Bar & Courtyard
Sit mum down to a six-course Saturday dinner with a choice of three entrées, two mains and one dessert lovingly prepared by executive chef Stephan Zoisl (ex-chef at the Fat Duck). Make sure she orders this picture-perfect Duck Tea, made of duck consommé, quail egg, trumpet and brown enoki mushrooms, smoked duck breast and black truffle. Mums can tuck in to any breakfast item for free when they dine in with at least one paying adult or two kids. We recommend the Oriole Big Breakfast ($24) – minute steak, sausage, ham, egg, mushroom, potato wedges and tomato chutney.

Pantry at the Stables
The caramel-covered Apple Cobbler Cupcake ($4.80++) is the perfect finish to a dinner where mothers get a free main course when their dining partners order one. Mains include spaghetti carbonara with a 62ºC sous vide egg ($24++), and pork and fennel-seed lasagne with mushrooms and parmesan ($24++).

Bring the whole clan along to the Mother’s Day Weekend High Tea Buffet, which will please mum and the little ones with its variety: dim sum, scones, sandwiches, roasted beef, braised duck, curry chicken and desserts like durian pastries and chocolate fondue, just to name a few. Each family also leaves with four home-made cupcakes, a family photo and a complimentary Molton Brown gift set for mum (while stock lasts).

The deep-fried crispy quail is the star dish in the lunch and dinner set menus ($88) that includes other meaty treats like camphor tea-smoked duck and pan-fried kurobuta cutlet with black-pepper sauce. Want something lighter? The dim sum buffet ($42.80-$46.80) is your solution.

Mum needs a drink, so whet her appetite with The ChrysantheMUM Collins, a cocktail concocted by mixologist Matthew Radalj. Then make sure she gets her hands on the yuzu butter-poached lobster, part of a six-course set-dinner menu which also includes kegani (hairy crab) cream croquette, grilled Nikka-glazed Wagyu short rib, and black sesame brownie Smores. Book 24 hours ahead.

If this Parisian-inspired bistro had its way, Mother’s Day would always be a ‘French Affair’. Chef de cuisine Claudio Sandri has whipped up a three-course lunch and dinner menu that includes a bowl of traditional French onion soup as a starter and, as a main course, French escargots in puff pastry with tomato confit; beef Wellington with mashed potatoes; or grilled Scottish salmon with creamed leeks, orange and fennel salad. Don’t forget to match it with mum’s choice of Austrian and premium Old World wines from the cellar.
