Former Holland Drive coffee shop occupant La Cuisson’s new upscale location along Prinsep Street styles itself as a compact, two-storey semi-fine French bistro and wine bar that seats 50; prices have understandably gone up a notch, but chef owner Kenneth Lin compensates with premium ingredients and heartier portions.
The foie gras salad is now a beautifully presented pan-seared version perched atop a crispy puff pastry with a spicy honey plum sauce ($24), while the upsized sous vide angus hanging tender ($26; at $8 more) remains a flavourful option for mains. There’s desserts as well – a richly satisfying dark chocolate ganache made using Valrhona and paired alongside green tea mousse and pomelo bits ($13) makes for a decadent finish.
