This place lays claim to being the only restaurant in town serving Kashmiri cuisine. That fact translates into snow-white raita speckled with curd and walnuts, and rich, strongly flavoured curries like rogan josh. The eggplant, perfumed with tamarind, is a delight, as are the mutton curry bathed in a crimson red sauce and chicken marinated with aniseed. A good base is either a pile of crisp garlic naan, or rice slashed with saffron saffron streaks and studded with almonds and cheese cubes. The service tends to be inexperienced, but happily the chef comes out to chat and takes orders, so grab him instead.

I highly recommend this place. The service is genuinely friendly, the food is fantastic - what is there not to like? The mutton ribs cooked in milk are particularly good. A comment to non-Indians: learn to eat with your hand, it adds a whole other dimension to eating and isn't as difficult as it seems :-).
