Why was six afraid of seven? Because 7-8-9 (okay, old and bad joke, but one that we could not resist). Rest assured though, that there is nothing old about this gem of a tapas-cum-cocktail bar located at The Esplanade’s breezy waterfront. Serving up a range of Latin-or Asian-inspired dishes and delicious concoctions, standouts were the subtly rich udon carbonara and the kurobuta pork belly fajita.
Epicureans may want to sample the delicate chicken basquaise, cooked slowly at a temperature that would make even Mr Blumenthal blush with pride. To wash all this down, indulge in one of five mojitos – our favourite one was the Batida Mojito made with Sagatiba cachaça – or the Chilli Zing, a spicy but perfectly balanced vodka tipple. For those looking for a midweek boost, head there Tuesday between 6pm and 8pm for unlimited flutes of Veuve Clicquot, all for $127++. What better way to unwind, or even numb the thought of three more days until the weekend arrives?
