Big-name Japanese chef in Tiong Bahru

IKYU
First published on . Updated on 2 Nov 2012.

Its name denoting ‘take a break’, the latest offering from Takuma Seki (the man behind the namesake diner at the Rendezvous Hotel, formerly of MBS’ Hide Yamamoto) is a cosy Japanese dining and sushi joint in über-hip Yong Siak. The emphasis is on handpicked fresh seafood and ingredients, all of which is on offer with the seven-course omakase menu ($128). Items include sashimi, panko Hiroshima oysters, California sushi rolls and Wagyu beef sirloin, and there’s a lengthy (if pricey) sake menu to heighten authenticity.
