You would never guess from thenondescript façade that this tiny boutiqueis home to wonderful Japanese fare.Store manager and chef Kayoko Arimadisarmingly describes her food as‘ordinary home cooking’, but there is nothingremotely everyday about her dishes. Thelunch and dinner set courses are filling,and the small à la carte menu is worthinvestigation. The innocuously namedavocado fritters arrived in a sailing boatlikecontraption, the nuggets of jade-greenfritters perfectly crisp and creamy, and theaccompanying dip of green-tea powder andsalt a revelation for its subtle pungency.
