If you’re up for eating whale sperm, you might want to dive into the deep end and sample the chef’s surprise menu. The not-so-adventurous eaters will be thrown a lifeboat when they order dishes like the super-fresh maguro and scallop sashimi, and freshly battered tempura prawns that are crisp and juicy to the bite. Highly recommended is the barbecued fugu (puffer fish) and the caramelised barbecued pork with lotus root. With the chefs whipping up spot-on dishes all night, it was strange that an order of simple handrolls could be so disappointingly soggy, bland and small. Otherwise the food was consistently good, although a tad overpriced.
