Al-Hamra is a neighbourhood favourite. Its Lebanese and Middle-Eastern menu features standards like kebabs (seafood, lamb, chicken) and meze, but everything is done with low-key finesse. The hummus is smooth and the eggplant purée a smoky delight, while the grilled chicken, flavoured with mushrooms and garlic, is just the thing to pair with thyme-speckled zatar bread. The best table in the house, especially in the evening, is just at the entrance by the window overlooking Lorong Mambong. Though unfailingly polite, service can be a little ‘blur’, so grab the maitrê d’.
