What better combination than a little café and a roomful of glossy cookbooks? The range and depth of titles is impressive (albeit a little Eurocentric) and gastronomically inspiring. Against a soundtrack of Michael Bublé and Sanseverino, the tiny kitchen churns out hearty, imaginative and comforting food. Tuck into tender sautéed pork slabs marinated with a citrusy mojito sauce, paired with wonderfully crisp wedges and a minty, garlicky cucumber salad. The chicken casserole, thick with carrots and potato, was nostalgic, though the Caesar salad, while tasting just right, was a little soggy. For dessert, the sticky date pudding provided a lovely hit of ginger. There’s a small wine list (mainly Australian) with $10 glasses, and bottles from $40.

25 Degree Celsius is also reviewed as a book shop.
