You’ll have to arrive early to secure a lunch spot among the usual yummy mummies and their broods après-Gymboree. The café is child-friendly and will even do half portions of its generous servings. A favourite with tykes is the penne bolognese, all rich and meaty; adults steer toward the wholesome antipasto plate consisting of a grocer’s list of goodies such as grilled eggplants, ham and goat cheese. The chicken salad is a large mound heaped with sweet avocado and a thick coating of toasted almond flakes. The date pudding remains a favourite; it’s a pity the accompanying ice cream is of such inferior quality.
