With its new and more visible location, it’s business as usual at Sage. The dining room’s grey palette and small but well thought-out mod French/Italian menu attract a mix of suits and ladies who lunch, though the rather uncomfortable chairs don’t encourage lingering. The crab salad sits in a pool of gazpacho and is made of avocado, olives, firm and chunks of meat, cut with the crunch of celeriac and onion. Though the prawn carbonara is more a prawn mee thickened with egg and prawn oil than a carbonara, it’s a nice twist to the usual version. Especially good is the veal cheek braised in a thick and rich porcini sauce. The set lunch starts from $38.
