Make your way through the usually crowded ground-floor pub and head upstairs to the suede-swathed banquettes and white table linen of The Brasserie. Popular with the Raffles Place suits, this is a great place for eavesdropping (a job interview was taking place at the next table during a recent lunch). The menu deals in modern French brasserie food, with a well-priced, three-course set lunch available for about $40. Particularly well done are the refreshing Waldorf salad (paired with thin slices of perfectly smoked duck) and the thick cuts of tuna steak nuzzling black olives in a pesto sauce.
