You’ll find popcorn at the Screening Room’s movie theatre – truffle salsa popcorn, to be exact. But don’t expect finger food at the bistro, decked out with chandeliers and a central bar. The restaurant is a Mediterranean sequel to owner Samia Ahad’s Persian-Asian original, Coriander Leaf in Clarke Quay. Try the escabeche of red mullet; the fish is flash-fried and marinated in lemon, making for a tender white fillet on salad greens. Also recommended is the chicken tagine with whole preserved lemons and olives, richly infusing the slowcooked stew with a piquant aftertaste.
Menu update: So many new items have been added to the menu, it’s practically been revamped: new sections include Spanish- and Greek-style platters and tapas, and a charcoal grill and tandoor that turns out kurobuta pork sausages served with chutneys.
