The very friendly prices help explain why the Thai Express chain continues to be so popular – especially in these cost-conscious times – with teenagers, young couples and families. The quick-fix street-food menu is (for the price) competent and consistent in quality. The thickly gravied laksa with chunks of fish is particularly good, as are the chicken wings stuffed with minced pork dipped in a lemongrass sauce. There are vegetarian options – the tofu curry with rice hits the spot every time. The bright and cheerful red setting and alert service are pluses.
